Daily 5 – Paragraph of the Week #2

This week we were given yet another prompt to write about. This weeks was….

Describe a place that you have traveled to that you hold close to your heart. What is so special about this place? (It doesn’t have to be a vacation spot. Some of the most special places may be close to home!)

Here is my response:

A place I hold close to my heart is probably Mexico. When I used to live in Florida every winter break we had the choice of going to Mexico or some place to go skiing. I always chose Mexico but sometimes we did end up going skiing. I love warm weather and Mexico has amazing climate. I love there landscape, the beaches are very pretty. A huge thing for me about Mexico is I love the culture there, there music is just amazing and oh my god there food is just so good. When I was younger my favourite part about going to mexico was getting my hair braided in those tiny braids and the mariachi band. I don’t really know why I loved it so much but I just did.

My Winter Break

In English we were assigned to write about our winter break. We needed to include 3 literary devices, the lines with red are my literary devices. Here is my document of my writing.

My Winter break

Going into this break I thought I was going to be proactive. I thought I would be doing so much my days would be almost jam packed with things to do. As of what I was thinking at the start of the break is that every single day I would be busy with lots of things to do with friends or even family. Maybe I would go ice skating with my friends or even just hang out with them in our backyards. Little did I know none of that would actually happen.

The first day came rolling around and I was so excited because I was going to have so much fun over the next two weeks. That day I had a doctor’s appointment and it was scheduled at 1:00 pm so it really was the worst because it was smack in the middle of the day so that was not helpful at all. I ended up not doing anything else that day, which is not what I wanted to happen. The next day came rolling around (by the way this was before the lockdown) and I had a hair appointment, got my hair done and then I headed to the mall to go shopping with some of my friends from dance. I was very excited because my day was full because….after the mall with my dance friends I went to the Greenbergs’ house to go in the hot tub. When we were outside it was freezing. I was an ice block. Besides tuesday a lot of my days went like this. I wake up around 10-11-12 am, I watch tik tok till like 12-1, after that I head down for my first meal of the day breakfast. Basically all I do for the day is lie in bed or do stuff my family wants me to do. Now that was not my day everyday. Some days I would go ice skating with some friends, and one day I even went sledding. When I went skating I felt like I was going 100 miles per hour.

During my winter break (though most of it was on screens) I still had loads of fun when I hung out with my friends. My favourite part of the whole break was on New Years Eve when a bunch of people in our class attempted to do an all nighter(online). I got ditched by everyone going to sleep but I decided to still do it by myself. But besides that part before we made tik toks, attempted to make slime, roblox, and did little activities. When we were making slime Sophie said she was so sorry she skipped slime making. But it was still just so fun!

Overall my winter break was not what I expected but it still ended up being an enjoyable break. I had fun and also took a lot of time to relax! Even though we could not go on any vacations, we all still figured out how to have a fun winter break even with the lockdown happening.

OJCS Set the Scene

For this assignment we had to create a day in our perspective of a day at OJCS. We had to create a short story about that. We were working on creating short stories. I learned on what we need to include in short stories, I learned about how to create a proper short story. I could take more time in writing it more in details, editing it more than I did. This is the short story I made.

Reflection of the Year

  1. How was my Grade 6/7 experience overall?

It was good when we were in school. I had a lot of fun and it was a great year. Then when covid happened things went downhill. It was not so fun. We could see nobody so we were just at home, all by ourselves.

  1. What was my favourite memory?

My favourite memory In grade six was probably the middle school retreat. During the reatre my favourite memory was when we went white water rafting.

  1. What are you looking forward to the most about summer?

Hopefully going to my uncles and going swimming. I really just want to swim this summer.

  1. What was enjoyable about distance learning?

That we had more flexibility during class time. We did not always need to be on the google meet.

  1. What was difficult about distance learning?

That we had to stare at our screen the entire day. 7 hours of our day are just being spent by being on our devices.

Tell Me Three Things by:Julie Buxbaum

Tell me Three Thing by:Julie Buxbaum

In La we did a book project and I chose to read Tell Me Three Things. What we had to do was read the book and do an artifact-(assignment about the book.)I chose to do a website of me pretending to be one of the characters. I chose this artifact because my characters have a lot of personality. It is different for each and every person. I chose Jessie because she relates the most to me and It would be the easiest character for me to do. The story is vey well written it was hard what not to choose and what to choose. There is so much detail as well, I had to cut out a lot of the whole story. I chose certain elements for certain reasons. I chose the most important things, I ended up narrowing it down to 4 topics. I made a cliff hanger at the end of each section so you would want to read the next page. I chose the sections because they felt the most important to me. They each had the most important details that needed to be in it or else you would not understand the story at all. If I was going through this process again I would probably spend more time on the artifact. I took so much time reading I had barley any time to do the artifact. It was a little rushed. The website I chose was Wix, this was not the best choice. I would have rather use another website. If you want to see my website.

Here is the link:https://coolio1bestio.wixsite.com/mysite-1

That is my website. Hope you liked it. I would give the book 8/10 stars. If your seeing this right as I post it I just published dit 5 minutes ago.

My Winter Break!

Florida

During winter break I went to Florida and I had a lot of fun there. It was a great winter break. I went to West Palm Beach, I also went to Jacksonville, Florida and finally my family and I went to Pennsylvania. We did a lot of cool things and visited a lot of family and friends.

In West Palm Beach it was just my family and me. Two of the things we did a lot was swimming and taking nice walks along the beach. When I was younger I went on this same walk and we went to these swings. This time we went a bit farther and we ended up at these rocks. Then we decided to turn left and then we landed on the beach. The wind was howling. The sand between my toes was squishy and chilly. It smelled like Febreze.  We did this walk twice during the week. Another highlight of the week was  swimming a lot. I prefer the pool but my sister prefers the beach. We went swimming at the pool more times than swimming at the beach. At the pool area you could get drinks so I got a chocolatey drink. It tasted sweet, sugary, and delicious. I had a lot of fun in West Palm Beach. Next location on the party bus was Jacksonville.

In Jacksonville I had one of the best sleepovers I have ever had! Then another exciting thing we did was go to a New Year’s party. When I went to my friend’s house we did a lot of fun things. We started off by just hanging out then we went to a trampoline park. We did arcade games and dodgeball. We got a lot of tickets but sadly did not get any prizes. I got a bad cramp because I jumped so much. I got a dare to do a front flip. That means I did a front flip for the first time. When I was doing that I saw everything really cool. It was like my life flashed before my own eyes. We went to bed at 2:30 am. The bed was so squeaky we just could not stop laughing so much. The next day was the New Year’s party. I was there before everyone else because we stayed at that house. They had a lot of food. It was mostly desserts. They all tasted so good. With all my friends, we had our own little party. Once we hit 2020 we all screamed so loud. I went to bed at 2:00 am. Next location on the party bus was Pennsylvania.

In Pennsylvania, I had really nice food and spent a lot of time with my family. We went to really nice restaurants. The food looked really delicious and tasted amazing! Our grandparents just moved to Ann’s Choice Senior Living Community It was a really nice apartment. They have a bunch of club houses. In the club houses they have restaurants. The food there is decent. They give you a nice portion. The place makes sure not to give the seniors too much food. All the cooks and waitresses were teenagers. The best part of the job for them is to drive the wheelchairs to the residents. During our time I also saw my uncle. We played Ultimate Rummy. Then we played rummy and I won! For breakfast we got bagels and lox. It was so good. Then we had to leave….

I had a very nice time on my winter break. I had so much fun in West Palm Beach, Jacksonville, and Pennsylvania. Doing all my activities got me really sad to leave. But don’t worry, I will be back again for more Bar or Bat Mitzvahs! I had a great winter break. I hope you did too!
